Twice Born– Lovely! “Twice Born,” by Robert Hart, is a welcome re-introduction to times known before.
Set near Hart’s beloved English waterways, the author weaves a credible fairy world into a family’s complex everyday reality.
Willow, the young granddaughter, slowly introduces her grandparents to this magic, secret realm and so to the hidden realities of their own relationship and lost history.
The author serves as a storyteller for the grandfather, transcribing the grandfather’s journal as requested by the now-grown granddaughter Willow.
I tried to read slowly, promising myself I would savor all the nuance and subtleties, but I just kept reading. Hart weaves a credible fairy world into a family’s complex everyday reality, blending two different worlds perfectly into a satisfying resolution.
